Yesterday we went to Brooklyn's Best Friend Bella Rose's 3rd Birthday Party! It was a Hello Kitty theme with cookie decorating. It was super cute and Jodi did a great job putting it all together!

Last Monday, Devon started 7th grade! I was a little nervous he would have trouble waking up since he had been staying up so late all summer but I was wrong. He had no issues getting up and was ready for the first week back to school. He is taking all AP classes and 1 GT class - I'm so proud of him!

I asked him to cut the afro but he was not having it! I'll keep trying, lol!

Last Monday, we also converted Brooklyn's crib to a toddler bed! She was really excited until she realized she was supposed to sleep in it by herself. LOL.

Yesterday, the girls and I went to Colony Cellars (a winery in Waller) for Kelly's birthday! We had no idea what to expect but had a blast! You can't tell from this picture but we are a wild bunch (aka a Covey of Quail) when we all get together! Don't think the wine guide and staff were ready for us! Last Wednesday a large group of family and friends woke up early and journeyed out to Galveston Schlitterbahn! We arrived at the park a little before it opened and found a good place to drop off our belongings before heading out to the lazy river and water slides. Everyone had a ball - I only wish I had a water proof camera to capture our fun filled day! Enjoy the few shots I did manage to get!

This post is a month over due...

As most of you know B turned 2 on June 11th. She had a great birthday with friends and family. She also went to the doctors for a check up and shots.

Height: 34 1/4 in - 50-75%

Weight: 27 lbs and 1 oz - 50 -75%

Head: 49.5 cm - 90%

Brooklyn is amazing!

She has become quite the little chatter box lately - she talks ALL the time and she loves to sing her ABCs, Ring a Round the Rosies and Wheels on the Bus.

Daddy and Emmy got her off her BahBah (pacifier) a few days after turning 2 which is pretty impressive because she LOVED that thing!

We are slowly working on potty training - some days she is totally interested and others not so much. She has gone #2 three times on the potty so far!

She has enjoyed being in the pool on these hot summer days! We got her some arm floaties that she feels completely confident in. She will go ALL over the pool whether you are around or not.

Yesterday was a fun day for the kiddos! First we started out at Noah's 2nd Birthday Party! Noah LOVES baseball so his party was at a park with a baseball field next door. How perfect for him! They also had a lady who did face painting and balloon animals!

I hope all the moms, stepmoms, grandmothers and god mothers in our lives had a great mother's day yesterday!

We started my mother's day at the zoo with my sister Kelly. I hadn't been in years and thought it would be a fun, family treat for the kids. Well, I quickly remembered why we don't go very often. The Houston Zoo, in my personal opinion, is a disappointment. Most of the exhibits you can barely see the animal because they are hiding or if you are lucky enough to get a glimpse of them, it is their rear end. That does not make for an excited almost 2 year old! She did like seeing the giraffes, elephants and monkeys. Thankfully they were up close and personal. Devon's favorite animal and sighting was the tiger even though he was ALL the way in the back. Figures!

After the zoo, we headed home for nap time, B slept 3 hours! We relaxed the rest of the afternoon before meeting Gigi, Dodo & Kelly at Los Cucos for dinner. The service was slow but the dinner was yummy!

Over the weekend, I heard Brooklyn calling Mommy, Mommy, Mommyyy and then Bubba, Bubba, Bubbaaaa from my room. I went to see what she had found and to my surprise she was sitting in her crib. Puzzled - I asked Devon why he put Brooklyn in her crib, he said he didn't that she climbed into it herself. I took my little monkey out and asked her to show me how she got in. This is her journey into her bed :)

Last week I officially turned THIRTY!!! Tuesday I met the fam for dinner at Kobe. We had yummy hibachi and sushi! My mom & Dave gave me diamond earrings (diamonds are a girl's best friend and my birthstone:)) and an assortment of Crave cupcakes. Kelly & Mathew brought me roses and balloons. Devon & Brooklyn got me a shirt and earrings. My family ROCKS! On Saturday, I finished my birthday festivities with dinner at Trulucks with my dad and dear friend Jodi. Dinner was delicious and followed by drinks with my awesome friends at Watson's! Thanks to everyone for a FABULOUS WEEK of DIRTY THIRTY CELEBRATIONS!!! Love you all! :)

Last Days of My 20s

On Tuesday April 20th, I will be the DiRTY THiRTY! So my ladies and I decided to celebrate the last days of my twenties at the Lakeway Spa and Resort on Lake Travis in Austin. We had an AWESOME time and I'm totally paying for it today! It is sooo pathetic how bad my hangovers are! LOL. On Friday we met up at Hula Hut for lunch and cocktails, then we did a little shopping before heading to our hotel. Our rooms were connected and had amazing views despite the gloomy weather. We had dinner and some wine before heading to bed. Yes, we behaved. We started Saturday off with mimosas and brunch, then headed to the marina for some lake time. We rented a boat and a driver who did his best to follow the sun peaking thru the clouds. After a few hours on the boat we cleaned up and went to Carlos & Charlies for dinner, drinks and music! It got a little wild but we all survived, thankfully! Thank you ladies for a FABULOUS weekend! I love ya'll soooo much! And thanks to my wonderful friend Monica for keeping the kiddos for me all weekend!

Been meaning to write this post all week and of course now its no longer March! Oh well! A few weeks ago my dear friend Brett, who i've known since I was 5, got married to David who went to the same elementary school as us. Crazy huh? Well, they couldn't be more perfect for each other and I was honored to have been a part of their special day. That same weekend my dear friend Shelley, also a fellow Petrosky Pirate, turned DiRTY 30! She lives in the DFW area so I don't see her as often as I would like but was thrilled to be able to see her on such a special birthday!

I must say I have been truly blessed in the friend department and my alief girls are no exception. We all went to elementary together and shared many childhood memories. I was the first to move but we remained friends throughout junior high, high school and college. Now our group of girls live in 3 different states, married and having babies! It's such a treat for all of us to get together and I'm so lucky to have these ladies in my life! XOXO

My baby boy turned 12 on Friday. Well, he really hasn't been a baby in a long time but it blows my mind to think next year he will officially be a TEENAGER!!!

Anyways, he requested to have dinner at Clay's again with our family and friends. He as usual made out in the gift department and was a happy camper! After dinner, we went to see Alice in Wonderland 3D which he loved. Saturday, Devon had his basketball trophy ceremony followed by his team skating party. Then he spent the night with Chan Man while I celebrated Jodi's 30th birthday! Sunday, he went to the rodeo and came home completely exhausted! He had such a busy birthday weekend that he needed Monday off from school to recuperate. Aren't I such a nice, understanding Mom? ;)

Yesterday was a fun filled day! Devon's basketball team kicked butt in their final game of the season. A final score of 35 to 17 would guarantee the BEARS a second place trophy in their division. The boys begin tournament week on Tuesday. Wish them luck! After an exciting win and lunch with the family we headed to Brett & David's crawfish boil. It was a perfect afternoon for beer, crawfish and friends. And the kids had just as much fun as the adults!

I'm a proud mommy today!

First - Devon is testing today at school for the Gifted & Talented program in Math, English, Science and History. I'm already very proud of him for taking all AP classes and making all As and a few Bs this school year. He apparently doesn't want to stop there! Good Luck Son! I'm proud of you no matter what! Second - Brooklyn followed me into the bathroom this morning (never a moment alone) so I placed her on her Cheer for Me Potty. She has sat on it numerous times in the past but was totally surprised to hear it start cheering and playing music. Yep, my baby girl went pee pee on the potty!

Being a single mom of two and working full time has definitely kept me busy but I was determined to finish school in the process. I wanted to set a good example for my children and show them that all things are possible if you put your mind to it. For those who don't know, I've been in school off and on for a little over ten years while attending full time the last 2 years. It was no easy task but I'm very proud to say that this past weekend I finally GRADUATED from University of Houston Downtown!!!

My amazing parents hosted a graduation party for me on Saturday with tons of food, family and friends! Thanks to all the guests who were able to come and help celebrate! Thanks to my Mom, Dad & Dave for their unconditional love and support!

Sunday was the commencement ceremony at Minute Maid Park. It was a cool 40 degrees when I arrived for check in. BRRR!!! Trying not to completely freeze I wore my gown over my jacket but was in need of some gloves and uggs. There were over 1200 students graduating yesterday. Luckily the College of Business was first to be called and I was number 212. Walking across the stage was a great feeling of accomplishment and closure to my college career! I was able to hear and see my family cheering amongst the sea of people in the audience before exiting the stage. :) Since I had already been at the field for 4 hours I decided to sneak out and meet the fam outside. I couldn't wait for another 1000 people to walk, sorry! We took a few family photos before heading to lunch. It was an AWESOME weekend and I'm thrilled to be done with school!!!

They said she was as happy as could be until she was handed over to Santa. Poor baby! Santa did offer her a red necklace with a jingle bell on it which she accepted before running off. LOL. Last week I took Devon & Brooklyn for their well check ups. Brooklyn isn't a fan of the nurse or doctor poking and prodding at her but she made sure to keep a close eye on what they were doing to her big brother. Then it was time for their shots...Devon kindly allowed Brooklyn to be first. She screamed and turned bright red as they gave her 3 shots. Next was Devon's turn...he was very nervous and I think he secretly wanted me to hold him too but I couldn't since I was holding B. So, he got 2 shots plus a nasal spray. They both survived and were fine within a minute after receiving their shots.

Friday night the kids and I went to Noah's school carnival with Katie, Cy, Noah, Teri, Beau and Paige. There was so much to do...merry-go-round, petting zoo, moonwalk, camel rides, games and more! Saturday night we watched the Nebraska game at Jamie & Dustin's with Dylan, Justin & Lauren. Good times for all!

Devon started 6th grade yesterday at Mayde Creek! We were both up at 6:00 am so he could catch the bus at 6:42. He is taking all Pre AP classes plus marital arts, art and advisory. As of day two, he really enjoys junior high! He seems pretty impressed that MCJH not only has lunch lines but snack lines too. His only complaint was that he was assigned 2 different lockers that didn't work but this morning the vice principal was kind enough to assist him in finally getting a working locker. Good luck in school Devon! I love you!

We had a great vacation but are happy to be back home! Brooklyn did AWESOME on the drive there and back, she was such a good girl! Brooklyn and I hung out at the pool every day and went to the beach a few times too. Devon went parasailing, jet skiing, banana boating, go karting and did tie dye. And we all went on a family sunset pirate cruise! It was a much needed relaxing week away from work & school. Enjoy a few of our vacation pics!

Today I dropped Devon off at Camp Lutherhill in La Grange. He was sooo excited to go! He is sharing a cabin with 11 other boys. He will be doing arts and crafts, pottery, archery, swimming, ropes, games and more. After seeing his cabin and meeting the other kids he politely told me I could leave...lol! Hopefully he misses me sometime before Friday because I miss him already!

Over the 4th of July weekend both the kiddos were gone. Devon went to the beach with Gigi & Dave and Brooklyn was with her daddy. I did manage to sneak her away for a few hours and take her to the mall for some new shoes. All her shoes were a struggle to put on her feet. 1 Year Check Up

Brooklyn went for her one year check up last Friday. My poor baby had to get 3 shots plus her blood taken...she was NOT a happy camper! They also checked her ears and she has green tubes that look great. Here are her latest measurements...

Weight - 21 lb and 11 oz - 50 / 75%

What is Brooklyn up to these days?

She says Ma-ma, Da-da, Ba-ba (Devon thinks she says Bubba) and her teacher said she also says Pa-pa along with her lovely squeals and screams.

She walks everywhere, she climbs, she gives yummy wet kisses and she loves the water.

She has 1 bottom tooth and another one coming in as I speak. Yay B!!!

Brooklyn turned the BIG ONE on 6-11-09! It's hard to believe a year has already come and gone...this makes me both happy and sad. I came across this poem and thought it summed up how I felt about Brooklyn's big day!

Long Time No Post

I'm sorry I have been such a bad blogger lately! I finished finals last week, my brand new laptop stopped functioning correctly (it will take 4-6 weeks to diagnose and fix the problem) and my desktop computer is super slow. Devon is doing great. He is finishing up 5th grade. He will be going to basketball day camp and then church camp for a week in La Grange over the summer. He is super excited! Brooklyn turned 11 months last Monday! She is definitely keeping us on our toes. She is venturing out with her walking skills and should have it mastered in no time! Yesterday, she (with no fear) climbed up the entire stair case at my dad's. Yikes! Her hair is finally growing and is starting to curl up at the ends. I'm thinking she will probably have soft curls as her hair continues to grow or at least I hope! Here are a few pictures from yesterday...

Surgery Day

Well, Brooklyn had her ear tube surgery today. Her ears weren't clearing up so her pediatrician contacted the ENT to discuss moving up her surgery date. Luckily she agreed.

We arrived at Texas Children's at 6:45 this morning to register, go over insurance, take her vitals, talk to the nurses & doctors and a lot of waiting. Brooklyn really enjoyed the waiting room full of toys! Her surgery was scheduled for 8:45 but the doctor was running late so she didn't get called back until 9:30. She went to the nurse without hesitation. Fifteen minutes later the doctor came out and told me everything went really well and I would be called back shortly to see her in the recovery room. B was a little groggy and quiet when I finally saw her but she sucked down her bottle and then they let us go. She's been GREAT since we got home!

The 3 of us had a very nice Easter Sunday. We went to church followed by a pancake breakfast. A few hours later we headed to Gigi and Dodo's for Easter dinner. We were blessed that Grampa Jim, Auntie Kel, Mathew and Uncle Wachary were all able to be there as well. The Easter Bunny was very good to the kiddos. Devon got the movies Twilight and Bedtime Stories along with some dinero and tons of candy. Brooklyn got a new Elmo dvd, bunny book, baby doll, outfit and lots of eggs. We hope all of our family and friends that we could not be with had an AWESOME EASTER!

She's Back...

...to her happy self!!! Brooklyn is doing much better these days. She has been sleeping great, her appetite has returned and she is back to beating up on her big brother! She went to the doctor on Monday and they sent us home with a nebulizer to help her breathing and keep her oxygen levels up. We went to the ENT yesterday and she will be getting tubes in her ears on May 15th. That's all for now!

Sick Girl

My poor baby girl has been sick ALL week! She started running fever Sunday night so I took her to the doctor on Monday. I feel like I'm at the doctor every other week! Not to my surprise she had another ear infection. She has had 2 double and 1 single ear infection since Feb. 4th. Dr. Clarke gave her another antibiotic. Unfortunately on Thursday she was still pulling on her ear, running fever, barely sleeping or eating...not like my B girl at all! Gigi and I took her back to the doctor to find out she still had her ear infection and her oxygen levels were low. They gave her a breathing treatment with no relief for Brooklyn. They suggested we take her to Texas Children's Hospital. At this point I was freaking out but had to pull it together for Miss B. Without going into all the details of poking and proding at my baby, she was admitted for Bronchiolitis. She was kept on oxygen and an IV for feeds and medications. Almost 24 hrs later they took her off oxygen and monitored her for a few more hours. Her levels were right where they needed to be so we were able to be released. We are very happy to be back home and glad that Brooklyn is finally on the road to recovery!

San Antonio

Devon and I had a GREAT weekend with Judy, Jodi and Brianna. We all drove to San Antonio early Saturday morning to watch Bri sing at Sea World. Followed by the kids swimming at the hotel pool, dinner on the river walk and the kids going to the IMAX. Sunday we took a river boat tour, went to the Alamo, the market and last but not least the Wildlife Safari. Jodi took over 300 pictures of our busy weekend. Until I get copies of her pix (the better ones) a few of mine will have to do!

Okay, I'm rewinding to last weekend...Devon had a GREAT birthday weekend! Unfortunately, Brooklyn was not able to join in on all the fun since she had the flu. My poor baby was miserable but thankfully her daddy was able to help out. Friday night we had Devon's birthday dinner at Clay's with family and a few close friends.

Saturday, we went shopping and then we had Devon's basketball ceremony...his team tied for 1st place in their division.

Sunday, we went to the carnival and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo to see Jonas Brothers! It was a long but fun weekend!!!

Last weekend we had a sleep over at the Bahrami's!!! The plan was to have dinner and let the babies play but both Brooklyn and Noah passed out before dinner was even ready. We had a delicious dinner, drank wine and watched Step Up 2 which progressed into Cyrus and Devon's dance off!!! It was HILARIOUS!!! The next morning we were finally able to get some pictures of the kids AWAKE...they are too cute!!!
